Ourense refers to a city that is the capital city of its province as well as the see of a bishop. It lies in South Galicia and has been known since times immemorial for its healing sulfur based springs of Las Burgas. It is the third largest city in Galicia. It then developed into a fortified town that was surrounded by a triple wall circuitry. It features a thirteenth century church which comes complete with a fine door way and exquisite retablo, a thirteenth century pilgrim hospice, a Jesuit college as well as the fourteenth century Torre de las Damas.
