Wroclaw refers to a city that lies on the banks of the River Older and which is the largest city in the South Western Poland. It also doubles up as the capital city of Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Historically, it was the capital of Silesia. Over the years Wroclaw has been a part of a number of countries including Austria, Bohemia, and Germany/Prussia before becoming part of Poland in 1945 with the drawing up of new borders.
