Sainte Luce is one of the towns on the west coast of the island of Martinique in the Caribbean, between Saint Lucia and Dominica. As with most other towns on the island, the main attractions are the beaches and the rain forest. Tourists can also see attractions like the Trois-Rivières village and distillery. In order to see the sights and discover the rest of Martinique, you will need to rent a car in Sainte Luce.
If you have not yet got a car for rent in Sainte Luce, then book it right now. Your tour begins at 68 Rue Schoelcher, which is the tourist information office. The first stop is the charming fishing village of Sainte Luce, with its pontoon and fruit market, souvenir shops and great views. If you are seeking an observation deck here for a nice view, then the perfect spot is the Pointe de la Vierge (tip of the Virgin) which overlooks the bay and the fishing village. You might also want to see the Montravail rain forest, about 2.5 miles north of the town as you drive on Route 17 towards Epinay. Probably the most famous and popular attraction in Sainte Luce is the Trois-Rivières Distillery in the middle of the sugarcane plantations, where you will now find a distillery museum and a windmill. But their store for tourists still sells bottles of Trois-Rivières Rum.
As with other Caribbean islands, Sainte Luce too has magnificent beaches with soft white sand and crystal clear waters. The Gros Raisins Beach is perhaps the idyllic beach often advertised by many islands but rarely seen in reality. Very quiet and shaded with palms and a green park along its length, the calm waters here and the few stray snack bars and restaurants in huts make it a very non-commercial and lovely beach. The Corps de Garde Beach on Main Rd 5 is a bit further ahead between Sainte Luce and Trois-Rivières, and is bigger and more popular among visitors. The waves are stronger here and water sports facilities are available too.
The best scenic drive you can take from Sainte Luce is a coastal trip to Saint Pierre. Follow the N5 and N2 along the coast for an hour and you will be in Saint Pierre. You can make it a day trip by stopping along the way to admire the attractions in Trois-Rivières, Rivière-Salée, Lamentin, Fort de France and Case-Pilote.
The nearest agencies providing a car rental in Sainte Luce for travelers are to be found in Sainte Anne and Rivière-Pilote. You can compare these agencies online, select the best you get and book your vehicle right now so that it will be available in Sainte Luce when you arrive.
