Msida, derived from an Arabic word which meant “fisherman’s lodging” was aptly named so since the place was previously a fishermen’s village. A small town in Malta located by the harbor with a total population of 7,600 as of 2005, the town has a Mediterranean weather with very dry and warm summer, and also a short and cooling winter. The town is essential in the tourism of the Malta, because it serves as a stopover for buses travelling to neighbouring towns like Ta’xblex, Gziva, SarGwann, and Ħamrun.

Hire a car in Msida and drive on over to the tip of the peninsula in Valletta, where the ever-so-famous Fort St Elmo was built by the knights during the Dragut Raid in 1551.
