Kiryat Bialik is one of the five Krayot cities in Haifa District, Israel. Its suburban location five miles from Haifa and close to both Haifa Bay and the Ein Afek Nature Reserve, makes Kiryat Bialik an attractive getaway. The city also has urban attractions such as the Kiryon Mall, and a whole lot of other small shops to explore. Get a car for hire in Kiryat Bialik so that you can set your own itinerary and explore the Krayot at your leisure.
The En Afek Nature Reserve is less than 10 minutes away. Get a car for rent in Kiryat Bialik and go past a gazillion roundabouts heading out of the city and on to Etsel. When the water is high in winter, the place is great for bird-watching. You will see all kinds of birds including gray herons, water fowl, and pelicans. If you are lucky, you might also get to see some of the water buffalos brought in to the reserve from outside. Go to the Tel Afek hill for a sweeping bird’s eye view of the entire reserve. The hill also has some historic ruins that date back 4,000 years, and a flour mill from the era of the Crusades.
One of the must-visit attractions when you are in the Krayot is Beit Katz. Sabina and Ephraim Katz, immigrants from Romania, were the first Jews to settle in this valley. The cottage they built was on the same site where the Beit Katz is located now – a stone house with a courtyard that is now used for educational purposes. It features interactive exhibits about the history of the town and its founders.
The closest accommodations for visitors are either in Kiryat Yam or in Kiryat Ata. For instance, the City Hotel located at Mapu 9, Haifa is actually in Kiryat Ata. It is only about 10 minutes from Kiryat Bialik. However, anyone looking for the best place to stay has to look at the water front hotels in Haifa. Consider the Port Inn, located in downtown Haifa at 34 Jaffa Road. They have everything from family apartments to bed and breakfast style accommodations, and even air-conditioned hostel dorms.
You could visit the other five Krayot suburbs. This includes Kiryat Yam and Kiryat Ata, in addition to Kiryat Motzkin, Kiryat Haim and Kiryat Shmuel. The last two are technically a part of the City of Haifa. In any case, book your car rental in Kiryat Bialik right now and plan to explore everything from Haifa to Acre. You could also easily take a 45-minute drive inland to Tiberias on the western shores of the Sea of Galilee.
