Tumon is located in the Tamuning municipality on the island of Guam in the Pacific Ocean. Guam is a U.S. territory and part of the Mariana Islands, about 3 to 3.5 hours from Japan, Philippines, and Taiwan, with the Asian landmass beyond. Apart from U.S. military travellers at Anderson AFB, the majority of visitors coming to Guam end up at one of the beach tourist resorts, including those on Tumon Bay. Get a car for hire in Tumon so that you can explore the beaches, towns, and tourist attractions on the island.
When you have a choice of more than 40 beaches, it is not easy to decide which ones to see and what to skip. Let us make it simple and list the top four beaches on Guam. Get a car for rent in Tumon and head for Joseph Flores Beach Park at the south end of Tumon Bay. This beach in Tumon is the biggest and most popular beach on the island. Mata'pang Beach Park and Faifa'i Beach are the other Tumon beaches worth visiting in the central and northern parts of Tumon Bay, respectively. As far as the whole of Guam is concerned, the only other beach which you simply cannot miss is Ritidian Beach, which is at the northern end of the Island in the Guam National Wildlife Refuge beyond Anderson AFB.
The top nightlife hotspots on the island are Sandcastle and Globe, located at 1199 Pale San Vitores Road in Tumon. Sandcastle is a Vegas-style club offering live shows and performances by A-list entertainers from across the world. They even have exotic magic shows with animals. The other nightlife hotspot is the Globe, which is located in the same complex. This one is more of a dance-and-party type of nightclub, with a bar, pool room, dance floor, and a private party room. You could also hit up the Trades Jazz Club across from Planet Hollywood, or go to the Hardrock Café.
There is a crush of hotels and resorts lined up along Tumon Bay and close to A. B. Won Pat International Airport. The best of the lot is the Hyatt Regency Guam, located at 1155 Pale San Vitores Road. The Hilton Guam Resort (202 Hilton Road) and the Outrigger Guam Resort (1255 Pale San Vitores Road) are both just as good. Another popular choice is the Westin Resort Guam located at 105 Gun Beach Road.
If you visited Ritidian Beach, then the northern part of Guam is essentially done. Book your car rental in Tumon right now and plan for a coastal drive to explore the rest of the island. The first destination along the coast after the airport is Hagatna (Agana), which is the official capital of the island. Continue on past Asan and Agat to Umatac and Merizo. Turn around here and head back up north along the opposite coast past Inarajan and Talofofo to Yona, and then to Mangilao in the central part of the island near the airport.
