Bad Hersfeld is located in the district of Hersfeld-Rotenburg northeast of Hesse. Car for hire in Bad Hersfeld is the best way to cover as much of its attraction as fits your schedule. The Old Town is Gothic Stadkirchie (Town Church) which is also the town’s landmark. Konigliches Gymnasium (Royal High School) originated and built in 1229 served as a monastery school until renamed in 1980 to Duden Schule. The Luisenschule (Luise School) is the best example of 19th century architecture. Today, it is now used as several offices.

The Staudengarten (Perennial Garden) in nearby Syiftsruine is in baroque design. Take a peak in the monastery ruin, of the Romanesque Church where Bad Hersfeld Festspiele (Festival) is held annually and hundreds of visitors flock the monastery to witness the festival. This is the biggest Romanesque church ruin. It is the ground for concerts, hard rock band music, metal bands and art events.
You can explore cities within a couple of days in your car hire. Hersfeld-Rotenburg is just 4 km away; Ludwigsau has the Maalchustal conservation area; and the Church in Oberhaum from the 14th century is located in Hauneck.
