Last stop is a cool drink in a café, hotel terrace or even join a student party where better priced drinks are available on every Tuesday.
Rent a car in Augsburg and visit some of the well known holy places. St. Ulrich’s and St. Afra’s Church is the most beautiful in the city. One church is for the Roman Catholic and the other Lutheran, the duality allowed as a result of the Peace of Augsburg treaty between Catholics and Protestants in 1555. Another magnificent church is the Gothic style Dom St. Maria (Cathedral of St. Maria) which has the oldest stained-glass windows. There is even a crypt beneath the altar and the ground around the church is astounding. St. Anne’s Church of the Carmelite monks was where Martin Luther stayed for a while. Other churches are The Church of Pentecoste V, Augsburg Mennonite Church and the Church of the Fuggerei.
A museum and a zoo are two interesting places to visit. Covering these two places is easy with your hire a car in Augsburg. Juedisches Kulturmuseum shows exhibits on Jewish life in the region of Germany and Central Europe. The Jewish Culture Museum traces the history of Jewish communities in the area.
