The seaside village of Villa Gesell in the Buenos Aires Province was founded in 1931. During its rapid expansion the former small villages of Mar de las Pampas, Las Gaviotas and Mar Azul got annexed and it’s now considered as one of the most important seaside resort towns on the Atlantic coast. There has been a tremendous effort to fix the dunes by reforestation where today tamarinds, pine trees, acacias and eucalyptus proliferate. It has a humid subtropical climate.
After landing at the Ástor Piazzolla International Airport in Mar del Plata use services as car for rent in Villa Gesell to drive the 100 km on the coastline but mostly behind dunes to your dream destination which takes about 75 minutes to reach. The main tourist attraction in Villa Gesell is the beach-life with mile after mile of fine sandy beaches and water sport activities all over. The accommodations are either alongside the waterfront or in the city. The food and drinks are superb and so is its nightlife. Villa Gesell offers an excellent infrastructure both for relaxing and enjoying.
Rent a car in Villa Gesell so that you can examine the different parts of the beaches and tour a bit of the city. With a total of over 20 km of beach you can enjoy every day at another spot. The sand is powdery and white. The soft slopes are safe for entering the water and there is hardly any current. Even so, the city constantly has 150 lifeguards present to ensure your safety! But make sure that you have your sun cream, sunglasses and maybe a hat and ‘flip-flops’ with you so that you will not risk any sunburns. Many places along the beach offer water sport activities such as windsurfing, water-ski, boat rides, boat fishing and jet skiing (only in special permitted areas). Volleyball, badminton and table tennis are very popular. For scuba diving enthusiast you best ask your hotel or resort because to get to the real great places, you have to book a tour in advance!
To explore some of the countryside hire a car in Villa Gesell and off you go. Visit the Querandí Lighthouse and climb the 276-step spiral staircase for a grandiose view over the dunes. Another attraction is the Mar Chiquita Lagoon, located near the district of Santa Clara del Mar. Try to come in the late afternoon so that you can enjoy a fabulous sunset. There is horse riding as well, during the day or just in the late afternoon, it’s just up to you.
There is surely a perfect beach vacation waiting for you with some excellent opportunities to get the local life known. And ‘lets Tango’ all night long. The fun loving people of Villa Gesell will welcome you with a warm and open heart!
