Bariloche, which stands short for San Carlos de Bariloche, is a city in the province of Río Negro, situated in the foothills of the Andes on the southern shores of Nahuel Huapi Lake and is surrounded by the Nahuel Huapi National Park. It got its name from the Mapudungun word Vuriloche meaning "people from behind the mountain". Bariloche has a cool Mediterranean climate.
