Puerto Iguazú is a frontier city in the province of Misiones, bordering Paraguay and Brazil by its two rivers, the Parana and the Iguazú. Only 18 km away from the absolute terrific and world-renowned Iguazú Falls, the city has developed its infrastructure around tourism. The climate of Puerto Iguazú is Humid Subtropical.
In 1542, the Spanish explorer Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca discovered the falls by accident while hearing the noise of the water, which can be heard at a distance of several kilometers. Before their arrival of the Spaniards, the Guarani Indians were the principal inhabitants of the area.

A trip to the Brazilian side is worthwhile in order to get a different view of the falls and/or take the advantage and fly over the Waterfalls on a Helicopter.

Visit the terrific Selva Viva Theme Park and learn more about this fascinating ecosystem in the Province of Misiones. It is recommended to not only tour this great park during the day but as well in the night, when silence comes to give way to other sounds and a new spectacle begins. Another great place is the Güirá Oga or Birds’ House as it is one of the best options created by man to get close to nature. This site offers foliage over a hundred years old, the trees can reach 30 m of height and about 50 kinds of butterflies fly around.
