Prestwick is a town in
Scotland lying approximately 50 kilometres southwest of
Glasgow. A total of three golf courses and the Glasgow-Prestwick airport have made this place well-known nationally and internationally. The airport borders Prestwick to the north and east and is one of the locations of several car hire companies and low-cost airlines which, in addition to scheduled domestic service, also operate flights to cities such as
Frankfurt, London (Stansted),
Rome or
Stockholm (Nykoping). Up until 1992, Prestwick was Scotland’s only airport for transatlantic flights until capacity was no longer sufficient. Prestwick has a good link to the motorway network, which makes it easily possible to travel onwards with a hired car to other cities in Great Britain and England.
