With a population of 250,000 the capital city of Namibia is not one of the biggest capital cities on the African continent, but it is generally viewed as the most beautiful and cleanest capital city in Africa. Windhoek is also the absolute business centre of the country. Almost all companies and businesses either located in or from Namibia have their headquarters in the capital city. Many of these are in the hands of ethnic German owners. Most trade is done with the neighbouring country of South Africa. The city is also the main hub of railway transport in Namibia, but also has well-developed roads, making sightseeing tours of the city by hired car very convenient. Windhoek has quite a few attractions. These include the three city castles, the Old Fortress and Christ Church.
