Car hire Bordeaux information
Just under 230,000 people live in Bordeaux, the university town in western France. Over 70,000 of them are students. This is one of the reasons why Bordeaux is one of the French cities with a comparatively young population.
However, the city is famous throughout the world primarily due to the type of wine bearing the same name as the city. Some of these wines are the most expensive in the world. You should allow yourself a bit of time to see Bordeaux to stroll along the Rue Sainte-Catherine, a one and a half kilometre long pedestrian mall in the old city, or go on a tour of the city by hired car to visit the many places of interest.
Besides Porte Cailhau, what should also not be missing from your list of places to see are the large churches such as the cathedral of St. André or the church of St. Pierre. The many museums and theatres, some of them very well-known, should also be a part of your itinerary. Bordeaux was a major node for road traffic back in Roman times. Trips to cities such as Lyon, Toulouse, Marseille or even Paris, where you can then stay overnight in one of the many hotels in Paris, should accordingly present no problem.
